Dr. Tamika Cross, M.D., FACOG — a Houston based Board Certified OBGYN — is making waves by opening a full-service gynecological practice and medspa in Texas and bringing comfort to the unnerving and at times downright frightening experience of gynecology visits. This is especially true for Black women who endure reduced access to health insurance and medical treatment and experience bias in the healthcare system. Dr. Cross and her business partner, Dr. Nwegbo-Banks, are opening Serenity Women’s Health and Medspa at a time when the insurmountable health disparities that many Black women experience has become a central topic of discussion — particularly in the south.
