Hence the reason the network decided to do a film based on her recent memoirCourage to Soar. In it, we’ll see Biles (who is played by actress Jeanté Godlock) start her journey into gymnastics in Texas to dominating in Rio at the Summer Olympics in 2016, all while facing personal and professional trials.

As Lifetime said about the film, “Simone’s journey from foster care to the Olympic podium – with all of its triumphs and heartbreaks – can serve as an inspiration for every little girl with a dream.”

Julius Tennon, who is the husband of Viola Davis, plays Ron Biles while Tisha Campbell-Martin stars as Nellie Biles, the gymnast’s grandparents and caregivers. And Biles actually serves as one of the producers of the biopic, and as she shared about her story in the past, it’s the people who encouraged and uplifted her on her way to success that will be highlighted, including her parents, her coaches and more.

“My journey to the 2016 Olympics started on a daycare field trip,” she wrote about her book. “You might think that going from a girl in foster care to being an Olympic gold medalist in Rio de Janeiro is the most amazing part of my journey. It isn’t. It’s how I got there — or more accurately, who got me there — that is most miraculous.”
