“Mommy… Look! My Hair Is Like Demetria’s From TV!” Traffic Reporter Meets Her Tiniest Fan On Air

Coming off of last week’s viral photo of a teacher who wore the same hairstyle as her 4-year-old student to prove she loved her hair is another feel good story about representation for Black girls.

We’ve been riding for Demetria Obilor, the Dallas reporter dubbed “traffic bae,” ever since a viewer tried to shame her for her figure last fall. And today she became an even bigger champion in our eyes when she invited her youngest fan on the show after receiving a tweet from her mom about the 4-year-old loving to watch her on TV because she looks like her.

Tiffny Jones tweeted the message above on Monday, saying her daughter saw the traffic reporter on air that day and proclaimed, “Mommy….look, my hair is like Demetria’s from TV.” And today Karsyn got to meet Demetria when she brought her on Channel 8 to talk about her hair and learn about working at a news station.

Demetria shared a few outtakes from the segment which warmed many viewers’ hearts on Twitter. And she received an equal amount of praise from social media for knowing what a big impact that one small act would have on this little girl. Check out the full segment with Demetria…
