You’re Going To Love The Story Behind This New, Natural Hair-Inspired Animated Film

If you love kids and you’re Matthew A. Cherry‘s significant other, you should be pretty happy right about now. The former NFL wide receiver-turned-movie director admits that he has marriage on the brain. And you know what they say about what comes after marriage. “I have a little baby fever myself,” he says. “I’m always sharing cute videos of kids.”
These viral moments — like Chance the Rapper’s tweet and Dave East’s sweet photo — didn’t just cause him to start perusing the Babies “R” Us aisles. They also motivated him to create Hair Love, a Pixar-style animated short film about a Black father, Stephen, trying to do his daughter Zuri’s hair before a big event. Cherry, who has nearly 73,000 followers on Twitter, began dropping hints about it’s worth, Hair Love has some pretty impressive production credits. For example: Animator Frank Abney is currently working on Incredibles 2 and Peter Ramsey, who’s an executive producer on the film, is the first Black director to direct a feature-length animated film, Rise of The Guardians.
