Beyoncé’s Homecoming is a masterclass and reminder of why black women should always own their own narrative.

Beyoncé is unpredictable. You never know when she is going to drop a new single, visual album or joint album and tour with her husband, musician Jay Z.

Yet the one thing you can predict, is that when Lemonade singer does make a surprise announcement, the world stops and pays full attention.

So when Beyoncé announced her Netflix documentary about her 2018 Coachella performance, the world did in fact stop, pay attention and waited with baited breath to see what her take on the concert film genre would look like.

The result? Spectacular.

Beyoncé’s Netflix film offers the world a unique insight into her return to the stage after giving birth to her twins and beyond that, provides a firm reminder of how iconic her Coachella Homecoming performance was.

It reminds us that Beyoncé isn’t just the greatest entertainer of all time, but the most exciting visionary in entertainment today.

She does all of this while ensuring that her black heritage takes centre stage throughout the documentary, just as her black heritage took centre stage at Coachella.
