#BlackExcellence: Barack and Michelle Move Malia Into Harvard

Our favorite first family’s oldest daughter is about to start fall classes.

Imagine you’re moving into your college dorm and instead of thinking how your life is about to change, you see Barack Obama helping Malia set up her new fridge.

That’s what it was like for a few students at Harvard University recently as the 44th president helped his oldest daughter move in, and depart with tears in his eyes.

Michelle was there as well to send her 19-year-old off to a new chapter on Monday afternoon (August 21).

It wasn’t all relatable to everyone though as Secret Service pulled up to Malia’s new residence in a two-SUV envoy and managing to avoid detection despite thousands of other students who were also moving in. They did everything during the solar eclipse, which helped.

Barack and Michelle had sunglasses on in and outside of the building so it was hard to see if they were crying (and it was probably intentional, too).

Pictures from the move in show Barack and Michelle come and go, while Malia also talking to new friends and those living in her building.

Check out some photos below of the move in.

I am a future butterfly at the stage of growth when I am turning into an adult. I am enclosed in a hard case shell formed by love, family, and friends. It is the hardest stage of becoming a black butterfly. You will encounter many hardships only to come out stronger and better than what you went in. At this stage, you are finding out who you truly are and how to love yourself.
