Dr. Kizzmekia S. Corbett, viral immunologist and research fellow at the Vaccine Research Center at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health, has gone viral over the past few weeks after the news broke that she is leading the team of scientists working on the COVID-19 vaccine. While many are celebrating the pivotal role that she, as a black woman, is playing in combating the pandemic, Dr. Corbett wants others to know that they are capable of making their mark on the world, too.
