Bride Holds Surprise Wedding at Hospital Where Father Is Being Treated for Leukemia

Nothing was going to stop Viennese Stanton, of Davis, Calif., from having her father walk her down the aisle, even if it meant she had to have her wedding at the hospital where he’s being treated for leukemia.

Stanton said via the Love What Matters Facebook page that she pushed her wedding day up so that her father could celebrate the day with her. Because her father has a weak immune system, he couldn’t attend her wedding at City Hall, so the nurses at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco helped her plan a surprise wedding at the hospital.

“Given the news of my father’s life expectancy (and with the help of an AMAZING nurse team), we were able to have a surprise wedding so my Dad could attend. The nurse team kept the wedding a secret from my Dad, so this whole day was a surprise to him,” Stanton wrote in her post.

Stanton said her father, although he’s severely ill, still has spunk and spirit and is fighting to live.
