Jennifer King, first Black woman NFL coach, to speak at Cornell May 3

When Jennifer King became the first Black woman to be named a full-time NFL coach in 2021, she became a trailblazer in the world of professional sports. At the same time, teaching the game was just the logical next career step for someone who had invested more than a decade in professional football.

King will be the featured speaker for “Breaking Barriers: The first black woman to coach in the NFL” on Friday, May 3 at 5 p.m. in Newman Arena in Bartels Hall. A one-hour question and answer session will be followed by an opportunity for autographs and photos. The event is sponsored by the office of Black Student Empowerment and supported by Cornell Athletics and Physical Education, the Gender Equity Resource Center and the LGBT Resource Center.
