Activist Erica Garner Fights For Her Life While In Medically-Induced Coma After Heart Attack
The 27-year-old became a vocal advocate against police brutality after the death of her father, Eric Garner, in 2014.
Erica Garner, daughter of Eric Garner, is holding on to dear life after suffering a heart attack over the holiday weekend.
According to family members, Garner had a heart attack on Christmas Eve. The New York Daily News reports that family members wait on her condition to get better.
She first suffered a cardiac arrest a few months ago, her mother, Esaw Snipes-Garner said. Worried family members discovered that Erica’s recent pregnancy had put a strain on her heart, which doctors discovered was enlarged. Erica wasn’t aware of the issue, her mother told the Daily News.

“She’s not doing well and we’re praying,” Snipes-Garner told the Daily News. Erica’s foster mother, Tanya Goode, told reporters that her condition was dire and doctors are taking measures to save her.
“Erica is on life support. She can’t breathe on her own. So, she’s not doing well,” a distraught Goode said.
After the death of her father in 2014 at the hands of New York Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo, Erica has become one of the most prominent activists in the Black Lives Matter movement. She has challenged former President Barack Obama’s administration and Justice Department for its investigation into Eric Garner’s death.
She blasted New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio for not releasing Pantaleo’s disciplinary record and for allowing the cop to collect more than $23,000 on modified duty in the fiscal year 2016, per the Daily News. Erica also claimed he really did not care for black lives despite being married to a black woman.
